Carbon Hard Maple: A Dense, Even Floor

Hard maple takes a satin finish the way few species do — a tight, uniform grain with almost no cathedral figure, so Carbon reads as one continuous dark surface rather than a pattern. It is also the hardest of the common domestic floors, which is why gymnasium floors are built from it.

• Solid ¾" hard maple: sand and refinish it for the life of the floor.
• 3¼" wide planks, satin finish.
• Nail or staple down over a wood subfloor, at or above grade.

Hard maple moves with humidity more than oak does. Let it acclimate in the room it will live in before it goes down.
