The surface reads as woven before it reads as stone.
Each tile is carved with a repeating geometric pattern — layered lines crossing at angles to form large diamond forms across the field. The relief is deep enough that the geometry casts its own shadow, shifting from dense black in the recesses to charcoal and metallic gray along the raised edges. The honed finish keeps the surface from reflecting light directly, so what you see instead is the movement of shadow across the carving.
From across the room, the pattern locks into a continuous architectural grid. Up close, the hand-worked character of each ridge becomes visible — slight irregularities in depth and edge that keep the surface from reading as mechanical.
The material is genuine marble. The coloration runs deep black to dark charcoal, with silver-gray highlights that appear only where the relief catches light at an angle. Directional lighting — a sconce, a recessed fixture — changes the surface entirely.
It installs as a vertical material. Fireplace surrounds, bar fronts, shower walls, and feature walls are where the scale of the pattern and the depth of the carving have room to work.
