Mud-In-A-Bag meets the requirements of ANSI A108.1 for mortar on floors and shower receptors. Use Mud-In-ABag™ wherever a traditional “mud bed” or “wet set” installation is desired on floors, countertops, showers, tubs, fountains, spas or decks.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Read and understand technical and safety data sheets completely before beginning installation. Follow applicable ANSI, NTCA, and TCNA installation standards. Refer to the most recent product information and safety data sheet prior to installation.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Surfaces must be structurally sound, clean and free of dust, dirt, paint, soap film, adhesive residue, grease, curing compounds and other foreign material that could inhibit bonding. For best results, material and surface should be above 45°F (7°C).
NOTE: It is the user's responsibility to determine the condition and suitability of all surfaces before application.
MIXING
Using a mortar box or suitable container, mix approximately 3 to 4 quarts of water per 50 lb. Where moisture resistance is required mix with Multi-Purpose Acrylic Latex. After mixing, the mortar shall be of a consistency and workability that allows maximum compaction.
APPLICATION
Follow applicable industry standards (Tile Council of North America, and ANSI A108.1) for the application and placement of mortar beds.
Application over concrete: For bonded mortar beds, spread and broom a continuous coat of pure Portland cement slurry over dampened, clean, concrete surfaces prior to placing the mortar.
Application over plywood and cleavage membranes: Cleavage membranes should be overlapped at least four inches at joints. Place the mortar bed with wire reinforcing over the membrane. Lap reinforcing at least one (1) full inch and support it so that reinforcing is centered in the mortar bed. Reinforcing shall not butt against vertical surfaces. Screed the mortar bed and tamp it firmly. Follow applicable industry standards (Tile Council of North America, and ANSI A108.1) for the application and placement of mortar beds.
CLEAN UP
Clean all tools and equipment with soap and water. Do not allow material to dry on surface of tile.
CURING
Keep all foot traffic off the installation until tile is firmly set (approximately 12 hours). Set times are dependent upon temperature and humidity.
LIMITATIONS
• For horizontal applications only
• Not for use less than 3/4" or greater than 4"
